Christmas in July???

We own several of those melamine plates that we purchased when our grandchildren were born and still have.  Our oldest is 20 ….I can’t seem to bring myself to throw them away even though they are worn, the dinosaurs seem not so scary, Mickey seems to not have such big ears…..still, they bring back such sweet memories of the grandkids chasing their peas around on those plates.   I still use them.  I can’t help myself.

I did find some that I loved a couple of weeks ago and did pick up a few new ones in case the family is afraid they may get peeling paint by using the old ones.   I do have regular dishes, but why mess them up when you can use disposable paper plates when the gang’s all here!  Saves on washing the real things.   I don’t want dishpan hands.

I found these and thought how cute these would be to use on the patio, on the sun porch, or on a picnic! And if you have a place at the lake, or the beach, they fit in perfectly.  Or if you have little ones, use these!  I loved the colors in these.

Today, since it is July 1, and since it is the beginning of a great month for give-a-ways, I want to give this set of 4 plates, 4 salad plates, 4 bowls, 4 matching glasses, 2 matching dish towels, and two gorgeous lime green pot holders with a neat grip on the back of these fitted nicely into a coordinating basket to someone who would like to have a set.

If you want to be in the drawing, just leave a comment and answer the following questions:  What are your plans for July 4th?   Staying home, going somewhere, cooking out, laying low, staying out of the heat and humidity? A winner will be selected on Wednesday, July 3rd and posted here.

Have a safe and fun July 4th!

  2. we will be staying home will be cooking out family will be comeing over love to eat with our family we don’t get together a lot they are to busy most of time but when we do I do love there company.

  3. All of the holidays for the past year have been very hard for our family but in all of the darkest hours God has something good for us. We all have realized how important family & loved ones are so we try to get together as a family & with friends at every opportunity. I am hoping to do that for the fourth & probably just cook out & enjoy being together.

  4. The family always goes to the 4th of July parade in Meeksville (used to be China Grove). It’s such fun – just a good old-fashioned parade. You never know what or who you’ll see. That night the South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department always has a fantastic fireworks display at Jenny’s house in Dublin. A good old-fashioned Southern 4th of July.

  5. We (David) always grills something good for the 4th. Usually in the evening Cade and his family are with us and we have fireworks on a small scale at our house, however our house is positioned where we can see a huge fireworks display from the drag strip on Northern blvd. and the one downtown (one from the front yard and one from the backyard!) Both of course make my dogs go NUTS.

  6. Being that it is kinda in the middle of the week, and it is going to rain….I’m thinking a smoked boston butt on the grill and have the family over on the screened porch patio and play some card games for the adults and video games/ movies inside.

  7. We plan to lay out by the pool, eat watermelon and grill hamburgers and hot dogs! I am sure we’ll get a sunburn and eat too much but oh well……we’ll have fun!!!!! Wish my entire family could be here for the “annual 4th of July family get-together at Bebe’s” but everyone is so busy and the “kids” are now grown!!
